Frequently asked questions
IPL Hair Removal
How do I prepare for my IPL hair removal session?
Before your appointment, we ask that you:
How many IPL hair removal sessions do I need?
Depending on your hair & skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals. Each part of the body has a different hair growing cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on the body area and what growth phase your hair follicles are in at the time of treatment.
Am I suitable for IPL hair removal?
Fair skinned & dark haired clients are ideal for IPL treatments. However, with carefully selected settings, great results are possible for different hair & skin types.
What is IPL and how does it work?
IPL is a non-invasive medical technology that utilises light at specific wavelengths to treat a number of common problems. An intense pulse of light is released from a handpiece into the skin targeting unwanted or excess hair, pigmented lesions, vascular lesions, acne or wrinkles (photorejuvenation). As the photons from the light hit the targets in the skin the light turns to heat, destroying the unwanted hair or lesions, all while leaving the healthy skin unscathed.
Contraindications (reasons why IPL may not be suitable for you)

What is the ideal time span between treatments?
Can I have laser whilst pregnant or breastfeeding?
There is no conclusive evidence to determine whether IPL is safe or unsafe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Please seek advise from your doctor first.
Will the medication/antibiotics I’m taking effect the treatment?
It’s important you let your therapist know what medications you are currently taking. The use of Roaccutane and other types of medication that treat eczema, dermatitis and a number of other conditions may prevent treatment on that day. Please seek advice from your doctor first.

Microcurrent Face Lift
What is a Microcurrent facial?
A Microcurrent facial is a safe, painless and non-invasive cosmetic treatment that utilises muscle re-education to tone, lift and firm facial muscles and ageing skin. During a microcurrent facial, at least 32 facial muscles are stimulated to simultaneously increase our body’s natural collagen and ATP production.
How long does the treatment take to complete?
Depending on age, individual goals and condition of the skin, a series of treatments will be designed specifically for each client. The average treatment time should take between 30 and 90 minutes. Please give one of our trained skin therapists a call for further guidance.
Who can benefit from the treatment?
Microcurrent facials are proven to work on all ages and skin types.
Can Microcurrent facials be combined with other skin care services?
Yes, Microcurrent facial therapy can be combined with a number of other treatments to meet individual skin needs. Please give one of our trained skin therapists a call to work out the perfect treatment plan you’re your individual skin needs.
What are the main benefits of a Microcurrent facial?
Microcurrent facials help tone, lift and firm sagging facial muscles to their original position and shape while also increasing the natural production of collage and elastin to reveal a more radiant, refreshed and renewed you.
How safe is a Microcurrent facial?
Microcurrent facials are a great alternative to surgery since it is no-invasive, does not require any recovery time, gives instant results and does not have the same potential for complications that surgery does. The Bio-Ultimate Platinum System sends safe and painless impulses to the muscles of your face that help overly tightened muscles to relax and underworked muscles to regain strength.
LED facials
Are there any side effects to LED?
How are LED facial treatments performed?
Skin will be cleansed to remove any make up and sunblock. This ensures that light will penetrate into the middle layers of your skin, where it will have the most beneficial effect. Creams and/or serums will be applied and a treatment masque (applicable to the treatment purpose). Eye protection is provided, and the LED treatment begins.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required will depend on your individual goals, which will be discussed during your initial consultation.
Typically, 1 - 2 sessions / week are recommended for best results. We advise a series of 5 to 8 treatments depending on your goals. Many clients will start to see and feel results after just one treatment.
Can LED Light Therapy be used for post-surgery scarring?
Yes, LED Light Therapy was initially developed to aid in the recovery of wounds and post-surgery scars, without the harmful use of radiation. Now, you can undergo LED Light Therapy to assist with pain relief, superficial skin lesions, rosacea, burns or simply as an addition to your advanced skin care regimen.
How does LED work?
Red LED Therapy is a fantastic treatment to increase the overall health of your skin. It stimulates collagen and elastin production in the skin and, due to its healing properties, we recommend red LED therapy after IPL facial treatments. It effectively aids in wound healing, skin rejuvenation and reduces inflammation.
Blue LED Therapy works effectively to target and improve inflammatory acne, by eliminating acne-causing bacteria that lives on the skin.
All LED treatment are painless and non-invasive and can be performed in your lunch break.
What treatments do you provide for acne conditions?
Body Toning
What happens in an Electrotherapy session?
Relax in a comfortable room while 8 electrodes go to work to transform your problem areas for you. You get to read, make a phone-call, or just relax without having to do the physical workout yourself.
How does Electrotherapy work?
The electrodes - placed on your body - will transmit computer-controlled waveforms, stimulating your selected muscle groups. This creates a huge energy demand on your muscles so surrounding fat will be burned for energy. It also agitates the fat cells for toxin release and cellulite reduction.
How many sessions do I need?
We recommend at least 2 sessions per week are best until desired improvement is seen. This will bring the most rapid results. Then, generally 1-2 sessions a week are all you need to keep your new figure looking its best.
Are there any side effects?
The only side effects recorded in the last 60+ years have been increased energy, better circulation, more restful sleep, and inch loss!! Electrotherapy is a very safe treatment and is not at all painful or invasive.
However, sensitive skin may react to the adhesive on the electrodes.
What are the benefits of electrotherapy?
Electro-stimulation breaks up fat and strengthens, tones and firms abdominal, glutes, legs, arms and love handles. The exercise derived from 1 hour of Electrotherapy is equivalent to doing up to 3,200 push-ups, squats sit-ups and Leg lifts. However, It will NOT do your cardio.
Other benefits include improved circulation, toxin elimination increased metabolism and lymph drainage. It also speeds up the repair of muscle fibers and removes lactic acid, thereby drastically reducing muscle soreness.
Who can NOT use Electrotherapy?
People with epilepsy, active malignancy or cancer, pregnancy or an implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker or a defibrillator are not recommended to undergo Electrotherapy Treatments.
Will Electrotherapy treatments help me lose weight?
Combining the treatments with a healthy diet plan will ensure the greatest weight loss results.
